St Gildas’ Remembers A Century...
1915 – 2015
For those of you who are not aware, 2015 will mark 100 years since the founding of St Gildas’ School. We are planning celebrations and projects throughout the year, both for the current pupils and for the wider school and parish communities.
The centenary celebrations will be launched on the evening of Thursday 29th January– please save this date in your diary. We are planning to open the school to members of the community for a sociable evening to view an informal display of school photographs, historical documents and other memorabilia. We are hoping to welcome visitors who have been involved with the school throughout the decades, providing them with an opportunity to stroll down memory lane and to renew their acquaintance with the school (and, hopefully, some old friends).
But we need your help. We know that those of you who attended St Gildas’, or whose children were pupils at the school, have a treasure trove of photographs and other items that will help to make the exhibition special. If you do have class photographs, photographs of social evenings or community days, or other items of interest, we hope that you will be willing to lend them to us for the event. If you can help, please hand the items in to the school as soon as possible; and at the latest by Friday 9th January. Please provide any background information that you have (date, occasion and any other details of interest). Also, make sure to mark your items clearly with your name and contact details so that we can ensure their safe return.
Details of other events planned for the centenary year will be announced in January. In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
